Blues For Dexter is the first tribute to jazz saxophonist, Dexter Gordon, featuring an all star quintet including legendary bassist, Ray Brown. Bodlovich's debut on Moonrise Records demonstrates his command of the drumset as he leads his quintet through these selections of Gordon's repertoire. Each track contains new arrangements and approaches to the classic Dexter Gordon sound while maintaining a traditional feel. The selections range through Gordon's lengthy career including the early recordings of the 40's, the celebrated Blue Note sessions of the 50's and 60's up to his later recordings in the 70's and 80's. The quintet has the classic bebop sound of tenor sax and trumpet with Jay Thomas doubling on tenor to capture the exiting two tenor sax battles which were a feature throughout Gordon's career.
